At the risk of sounding cliche, what happened to May?
Here’s a flashback to my month:
- Had a very busy May at my acupuncture practice - supporting couples on their paths to parenthood, helping pregnant mamas to have smooth deliveries, bringing balance for sleep-deprived parents, and treating spring sniffles of my littlest patients.
- Watched the moon pass in front of the sun through old x-rays, but missed the ring of fire because it was way past the baby’s bedtime.
- Have fallen in love with all things yogurt as I experimented with my new heirloom Greek culture – thin, thick, cream cheese, and several flops turned into delicious creations of accidental cheese and cheesecake ice cream.
- In another dairy experiment, I found the BEST use EVER for extra whey: Gjetost Cheese. Smoky caramel meets tart cheese sauce reminiscent of cheese out of a can – in a good way. Had it today doused all over spaghetti squash and cherry tomatoes and topped with plenty of Parmesan. My new favorite thing.
- Had a great time at the Real Food Symposium enjoying great eats and chatting with Culture Club 101, Real Food Devotee, Kombucha Kamp, Best Beef Ever, Organic Pastures, Bezian Bread, Mariposa Creamery and many more Real Food rock stars.
- Learned a simple little trick to save myself lots of time and muscle power when making sauerkraut.
- Listened to my son repeat the words rojo, blanco, and adelante when picking him up from Spanish immersion class. Hoping he’s absorbing more that red, white, and forward.
- Enjoyed a luxurious dinner with my beloved at our favorite LA restaurant - Gjelina’s - oysters on the half shell, chicken liver mousse, and wild boar sausage. Thanks to my visiting in-laws for watching the kidlets!
- Some recipes I’m definitely trying soon in my own kitchen: Mariscada (Portugese seafood stew), Coconut Macaroons, and a reader, Nav’s recipe for homemade paneer to put in my Indian Creamed Spinach (Saag).
- Dressed up with my little family for a fantasy ship-themed float in our local Memorial Day parade – naturally, my husband was Poseidon.
- Enjoyed reading about why sun worshipping can actually benefit your health.
- Planning on kicking off a grain-free summer with this great list of picnic and BBQ foods..
- My hubby and I decided to forgo this summer’s vacation in exchange for a staycation - saving us time and hassle and giving us some much needed down time in our own home.
What were your memorable moments in May?
