This post was almost entitled, "Does Green Snot Mean Infection?" - and then I realized you might have come here looking for a delicious recipe for tonight's dinner. If you're still reading, I'll assume you don't mind the references to nasal discharge... Today when I picked up my daughter from pre-school, I was informed by her lovely head-mistress that she had "lots of green snot." So gross. But is my child … [Read more...] about Is My Child Contagious?
Is Stevia Healthy Or Just Another Toxic Processed Chemical?
Is stevia healthy? Until recently, I mostly didn't trust the stuff. Many versions have a bitter aftertaste; the white powdered stevia looks suspiciously unnatural; and though you may disagree with me, I think most people should simply eat some (minimally processed) sugar and stop obsessing over finding a substitute. Turns out though, that stevia may be a pretty darn good sugar replacement for those who really need or … [Read more...] about Is Stevia Healthy Or Just Another Toxic Processed Chemical?

Dried Persimmon Snacks Recipe
I don’t know about you but I just love my dehydrator. It works so hard for me. The poor thing runs year round at my house. It is always busily making me on-the-go snacks like kombucha jerky, holiday decorations, and these dried persimmon snacks. Before I got myself a dehydrator, I dried almonds in my oven on the lowest setting, but not much else. If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use your oven, but I highly suggest … [Read more...] about Dried Persimmon Snacks Recipe

Egg Soup For Breakfast
My family eats A LOT of eggs. Sometimes, I just can't face another scrambled, boiled, or fried egg, but I still want a savory hot breakfast and a nutrient dense start to my day. On mornings like that, a simple mug of soup fits the bill. I know it's unconventional, but I like soup for breakfast. Sometimes I'm in the mood for veggie puree like Bieler's broth or on mornings after a celebratory weekend, I like this … [Read more...] about Egg Soup For Breakfast
